Michelle Kafka Writer Statement:
Words appeal to me in all
forms being spoken, written, and visualized;
thus the love of reading and writing.
I wrote stories from the time I could write.
Growing up my first children's book that I read was Beverly Cleary's, Ramona.
I loved reading Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys, and Choose Your Own Adventure stories.
My first poem that I read was Chicken Soup with Rice. I loved talking animal stories and rhyming poetry.
Of course, English was my favourite subject in school.
Later on my first novel read was a Stephen King novel, The Tommy Knockers. My first
paranormal romance read was by Lori Devotti.
Poetry appeals to me thus the love of writing free verse poetry.
The incorporation of symbolism into my work shows themes of life, love,
flora, and fauna. I enjoy using similies, metaphors, imagery, personification, and onomatopeia in my pieces.
I write to educate, inform, and persuade.
I write to change people's minds about something. I write to bring dreams at night.
I write to bring a vision. I write to bring a voice.
Writing has opened doors for me in ways of gaining knowledge, and understanding.
Writing has changed me because I have more to say. I look at and analyze things more closely.
Additionally, if one was to peer through my writer's window, what would one see?
One would see me hard at work on my passion.
As a writer it is my goal to put a smile on your face and
make you forget the ills of the world if but only for a moment!
Finally, my favourite quote is "Words are the most powerful drug used by
mankind." ~Rudyard Kipling~
